Structure
The Commission consists of not more than 12 members, appointed by the Government.
UNESCO's ideas are implemented through the Commission through already existing structures and institutions. For example through co-operation on UNESCO-related matters with universities, research centres, libraries, NGOs etc. The Commission does not aim at establishing new structures within UNESCO’s field of competence.
Staff
The Commission has a secretariat employed by the Ministry of Education and Research. The financial means are decided upon by the Parliament on proposals from the Government, as is the case for all Government agencies. The Commission is autonomous to make its own work plan; decide on the use of their financial resources etc.
